On his right lies a large meteorite, symbolic of the sky being brought down to the earth through prayer.
Mescal beans are also worn for adornment, protection, and medicinal purposes and are commonly revered due to their bright red color. It is common to wear mescal beans during peyote ceremonies to enhance the spiritual and medicinal effects of peyote. Mescal beans are an additional portal and protector in the spirit and physical world. Some tribes wore mescal beans during warfare, which they associated with war, courage, blood, and protection.
