Strong Roots Medicine Necklace

$26.00

Our grandparent, Texas ebony, stands humbly, using their body to serve as a pillar for the land. A place of rest and a reminder to remain sturdy and firm in all that we do. Their roots penetrate deep into the soil, in all directions, showing us how to embrace fully.

We carry white maiz, a reflection of our own flesh, as a reminder that we are always guided and protected by our ancestors.

Despite not being native to our lands, cattle have given us their whole selves, from skin to bone, nourishing and caring for us. Our people depend on cattle and have formed strong connections to these animals. We honor their giving nature by carrying and acknowledging their lives as more than just sustenance, but as relatives. Their forced movement into the Americas mirrors our forced migration into other lands.

May this medicine of selfless love, empathy, and humility seep into our very being.

The number 3 represents the past, present, future. Ancestors, our current selves, and our children. A reminder that we are more than just a singular moment of time or being. We honor all that has come before us, all that we are now, and all who will come.

The number 4 represents the four elements and the four directions. A reminder that we are the center and the surroundings that make this reality, all at once. We are surrounded, guided, and molded by unseen forces.

The number 7 is a reminder that our conduct and choices will affect the next 7 generations directly. We are a product of the 7 generations before us, and our work directly impacts those ancestral energies as well.

Materials: Naturally dyed and hand-carved dyed cattle bone, white maiz, Texas ebony, deerskin leather, and sinew.
